In the lending businees it is either Borrower paid or Lender paid.

Borrower paid is just that the borrower pays the origination fee it is included in your closing disclosure.

Lender paid is were the lender charges you a higher interest rate on your loan to obtain his origination fee .

So when you hear we don’t charge an origination fee it is because it is charged via a higher interest rate for the borrower.
